History of PC GamingThis is a featured page

When it started

Video Games on the Computer started during the 1960's. The PC Games back then were usually World of Warcraft, sports games, etc. These games were usually played on the keyboard.

By promoting the industry, many magazines were sold to make PC Gaming seem fun and interesting. So that's why famous magazines back then were created. Some examples are "Creative Computing" and "Computer Gaming World".

When PC Gaming Grew

Surprisingly, PC Gaming started growing when bad quality games and systems were released in the 1980's. The PC Gaming rose dramatically! Then computers started becoming popular, since the gaming industry that generation was so poor. That's how developing companies like Electronic Arts become more known.

Next Generation Technology

During the late 1980's, technology for the computer was booming like crazy! Since the companies adapted to gaming, more graphical and better looking games were formed. Since the mouse was being more and more used in games, game developers had to adapt to that new concept as well. Other great ways to PC Gaming much better was better sound cards. These cards produced true-to-life sound, like your in the game!

Many rising games like the "Hovertank 3-D" and "Wolflenstein 3-D". These genres of games helped promote the gaming industry even further, making them top ranked that generation (of gaming).
